Born in 1832 – Gustave Doré, French painter and sculptor.
Above: Rosa Celeste. Dante and Beatrice gaze upon the highest Heaven; from Doré's illustrations to the Divine Comedy, Paradiso. Canto 28, lines 16–39
Also, it is the feast of the Epiphany. From Isaiah 60 in the Geneva Bible:
Arise, O Jerusalem; be bright, for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people; but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
And the Gentiles shall walk in thy light, and Kings at the brightness of thy rising up. Lift up thine eyes round about, and behold: all these are gathered, and come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nourished at thy side.
Then thou shalt see and shine: thine heart shall be astonied and enlarged, because the multitude of the sea shall be converted unto thee, and the riches of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.
