Born in 1807 – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, American poet.

In 1842, Longfellow published Poems on Slavery, the last of which is called “The Warning”.
Also born on this date in 1897, Marian Anderson, who said, “When I sing, I don’t want them to see that my face is black; I don’t want them to see that my face is white – I want them to see my soul.”
