25 January
It is the Feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul the Apostle.
Above: The Conversion of Saul, 1857. By Simeon Griswold (after Peter Paul Rubens). Smithsonian American Art Museum.
From Acts 26, Geneva Bible:
At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven passing the brightness of the sun, shine round about me, and them which went with me.
So when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? It is hard for thee to kick against pricks.
Then I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.
